## What needed solving

Tax professionals spend hours researching complex questions across statutes, regulations, and case law. The process is slow, expensive, and prone to gaps. Taxfigure needed a platform that could answer hard tax questions in seconds, backed by authoritative sources, and trusted enough for professional use.

## How we built it

Matious built a multi-agent AI system where a research coordinator breaks each question into parallel sub-tasks, specialized agents search statutes, regulations, case law, and client documents simultaneously, and a synthesis agent produces a bottom-line answer with full citations. We also built a GPU-accelerated document intake service that turns scanned tax forms into structured, searchable knowledge.

## What we delivered

Tax professionals can now research complex questions in seconds instead of hours. The platform handles W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and prior-year returns as first-class agent tools. A six-tier citation system makes every answer professionally defensible.
